I personally was banned. It was overturned after I emailed them and gave my side of the issue (Kudos to them for fast response to this issue). The biggest problem with this that I have is that the reason for the ban was automated. It appears that multiple long duration gaming sessions can cause you to be flagged/banned. I had a few 14 hour+ days of constant gaming. I know that I am an anomoly with far too much free time, but the ease at which I seemed to reach that threshold has me worried that it will happen again.
There are times, when I farm specific special drops, that I may spend 12-18 hours online at one time. It would be a real pain to consistantly have to appeal a banning for a few points.

Yes, it has happened to me several times. Each time the window title is "G" not "Guild Wars." This specific issue NEVER happened prior to installing EAMONN.

Another issue I have run into is that it will not detect my second account. Even if my second account is the only one running! Support is telling me that having a second account is so rare thay it is not worth the bother to fix! My system is 64Bit so each copy of Guild Wars runs in a different 32bit shell. Only once have I had a crash, the other account remains unaffected, kind of nice really. The Crash was caused by Creative Labs' drivers, which I fixed since then not a single issue until EAMONN was installed. Anyway, if you want to see the ongoing dicussion please visit http://www.jact.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=19827#19827 and post your comments if you would be so kind.

EDIT: JACT has closed the issue until I can produce an "offical statement from ANet" authorizing multiple installations of Guild Wars.

Just FYI, but the JACT software does not work on Windows 7. At least, not yet. Irritating, as it worked before I upgraded to the beta. (even a beta is better than Vista).

Hi

I just read this post about JACT, and I'm interested in signing up.
I read something about invites, and I'm wondering what those are about, since it seems like I can sign up from the JACT homepage too.

Thanks for the answer in advance

Here is the response on the Jact forum to a question about the changes. Looks like they had more users than the employees could handle.

That will help you understand what's going on.

Basically, they closed up shop because they need to get caught up with all the orders that are already past due.

Once they get caught up they will start adding things back in. "

Well, I just signed up yesterday.
I did notice in the Mall that things were not looking the way I thought they would based on this thread. :S
Oh well, I guess I'll just play with JACT on from now on and try to accumulate points for the time they will bring back the "old" Mall.
I'm not so big on drawings, I usually never win anything, so I won't be spending the 100 bux on that either. I hope I'll have enough points for something nice when they reopen the Mall. ^_^

Cheers

The temporary change for using your points seems to have become permanent. It has now been over two months with no way to spend your JACT bucs.

I'm skeptical about this product.. I don't know if it's worth downloading. I have been reading some posts in here and they made sense and some just confuse me.

I personally don't exactly know what this download-file is all about.. This is what I've got out of the thread so far: A downloadable (Free) software that gives you E-Cash for how ever amounts of hours one has played on the game, while active.. How much $ is the player getting out of this? if they play 12+ hours a day? How much will one get within 12 months?

The file in question has been checked and measured. All it does is collect aggregated gaming data for specific games that are on the supported list. Which ones and how long you play. No other information is gathered. Nothing personally identifiable.

I gain about a thousand points for a full day of gaming. (8-11 hours).

How many points you earn is entirely dependent on how long you are actually sitting at your keyboard and doing more than just moving the mouse or pressing a single key on the KB.

Even short breaks (3-5 seconds of inactivity) stop the point generation till you become active again so you cannot passively generate points.

To give you an idea of what you will need pointwise for anything in the mall, I ordered Civ IV and it cost me about 18,000 points.

That being said...

My experiences with Jact have been double edged.

On one hand, the concept is great. Get stuff for playing games. Can't beat that with a stick.

However the economy issue came at a bad time. I had just ordered a crappy set of ipod speakers as a "Lets see if I get this from them" test. 4 weeks later it hadn't come. It finally came to light that they were backed up very badly due to sponsors pulling out due to the economy.

They made promises to keep us up to date with how things were going. They promised to update the blog weekly, and made forum posts saying they would keep us up to date there as well. They are horrible at any sort of communication. They really only update when the noise on the forums reaches a crescendo. Then they placate with some data and it's back to nothing till the next uproar.

I finally received my "Test" order late August. 5 months late. It did arrive however. I still have an order of a more "Desired" magnitude (Civ IV) that is only 4 months old so far.

So while I can't jump for joy and shout from the rooftops "This is GREAT!" I can say that it is legit that I have received an item from playing guild wars, but the current state of affairs leaves much to be desired.

They no longer have a "Mall" that you can pick items that you want. Everything currently is a "Raffle" that I don't trust at all. There have been many times that the raffle would be expired, yet you could still buy tickets. So either people are able to buy worthless tickets to a raffle that has already been won, or they are extending the raffle ticket purchase past the posted dates.

This is supposed to be temporary till they get caught up with orders. Last few times they have updated the numbers of backlogged orders extrapolation puts catch up date near Christmas.

I would not personally expect the mall to return before then.

So if you are willing to take a leap of faith, or don't overly care about the game play data. I would suggest signing up if you are on the fence. Worst thing that will happen is that they die out completely as they never recover, and you never get any prizes. Or they can get caught up, return the mall to a semblance of less than total suck, and you get prizes for playing.

Edit:

No, and I wouldn't hold my breath. The biggest issue for such an endeavor would be shipping costs which as you know are astronomical when shipping from the US overseas. They are considering options such as allowing you to pay the shipping or perhaps including shipping costs in the prize cost of items. However with the current state of affairs I would not expect it for quite some time. As I already mentioned above, I believe they will get caught up sometime around Christmas. I wouldn't expect anything till at least 6 months after that if ever.

You wouldn't think there would be a problem with them offering their services to Canada... oh well - I might as well try it.

If I had installed JACT, and it locked my system every time I played Guild Wars, I think I'd get JACT off as soon as possible.

(was that pun too over the line?)

Eh rummaging around on their forums, and looking at the meager raffles they now offer as prizes (most of which are expired) I'd say JACT is nearly dead. As of the 13th of Jan. the moderators on the forums are still trying to maintain that its still making progress, but nothing since. Not to mention about 80% of the complaints on there are of people who won raffles for items over a year ago and still haven't received anything. The other 20% are problems with software not working properly.

Seemed to be a great idea but they set the bar so high at the beginning and are now failing miserably. Meh, maybe just my opinion, but I'd "un-sticky" the thread, Jact is more or less dead.
